I’m so proud and thankful to have been nominated
by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for Luther,
a show that is very close to my heart
and the hearts of my loyal supporters.
It was a big deal for me to return to London to work
on this mini-series and it’s thrilling and humbling
to see that it has been recognised in such a way.
Such an honour would not have been possible, however,
were it not also for the collaboration between everyone on this project:
Ruth Wilson and the rest of my incredibly talented castmates;
the gifted directors Brian Kirk, Sam Miller and Stefan Schwartz;
our brilliant producer Katie Swinden;
and last and certainly not least, genius writer Neil Cross –
thank you for not only creating such a terrifically complex,
indelible character in DCI John Luther but also
entrusting me to bring him to life on the telly.
My eternal gratitude to the entire team –
and all of you out there for always watching
and supporting all of my endeavours.

So well deserved….for you have most definitely worked hard for the recognition and the honors that have been bestowed upon you. Just remember, my love, with the fame unfortunately comes the extra attention to one’s personal life. You hav…e chosen a career that every aspect of your very being will be watch and scrutinized by others. Just be mindful now of the power and ability you have as “one sole individual, to influence the lives of so many others. Please live by example by staying steadfast on a correct path…be drug free…show respect to women…be empathetic to others and their plights…show tolerance to another’s race, creed or religion, etc. I beg of you to be that strong black man that so many young people should aspire to be. This comes from a white woman who sees you as a real man…despite our racial differences. I can truly appreciate any man who is a symbol of strength…powerl…and willing to take the lead without fear. If your actions remain righteous…and others listen…learn and make right choices of their own because of your influence…..trust me….you will get more in life than just the Golden Globe nomination.
First the Golden Globes….Congrats it is so well deserved! Next will be the OSCARS! Those long days and nights are now paying off! Im so happy that I feel as if I was nominated! Please remain the positive BLACK MALE you are for others to inspire to become. May God continue to bless you, keep your head high, but your nose at a even level (smile).And dont forget about us little people. As you continue through life try very hard to focus and listen to the direction of the Coach (GOD), not the hecklers (gossip blogs, critics & haters) in the stands!….God bless you….
MY FAVOURITE serious for this year is Luther…can’t wait for the next season! Scintilating! Do your thing…its a great show and you do it justice.

Idris, you are so Gorgeous/Adorable and Thoroughly Entertaining always.. Yes! But more than that, truly a marvelous inspiration. Blessed in such wonderful ways, with so many talents. Outstanding Actor, Beautiful Gift of Song/Writing, DJ Extraordinaire, Neat Photographer, Interviewer (the Haute travels interview, i read, enjoyed -:) ), Natural Gift of Communication (Radio), Fantastic at making speeches, humorous, etc., etc., etc., Charm, genuine/sincerity/kindness, You are ENDURING; and I’ve been wanting to say for a while that from reading your “very special note” blogs here, you are a great writer also! So natural, yet so graceful, but poignant. I really enjoy reading what you have to say. If one of your next/forseeable projects were a book, yes! I could easily see that lol! -:) I’d only be surprised in wondering where you’d ever find the time to write it, but i know you would.
